The campaign of the DGT and the Xansa includes awareness talks aimed at older people in the centers with more black spots for pedestrians.

It is the most common profile of fatalities due to abuses in Galicia, one of the blights of accidents in which the Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) focuses its awareness campaigns. So far this year five pedestrians died in the community hit by a vehicle, which means in just two months 35% of the 14 fatalities of all 2015. None wore a safety vest, so from Traffic have decided to strengthen awareness of passers-by on the importance of making drivers visible with a joint campaign with the Xansa that includes the distribution of 2,000 vests during this year -400 before Holy Week- and talks in the town halls, especially in those that concentrate more black spots of abuses. It will be an informative campaign in which it will not be fined, although in the cases of repeat offenders "other measures will have to be taken,” as warned yesterday by the government delegate in Galicia, Santiago Villanueva.
Last year, the Traffic Department designed a risk map of abuses that included 50 municipalities. As explained, yesterday the lieutenant colonel, the actions in the most conflictive nuclei with the reinforcement of the surveillance. Or the improvement of the infrastructures explain that in the current map only five municipalities repeat - despite the fact that the total figure is around 50 again when analyzing the 170 serious and minor abuses of 2015. According to Villanueva, the causes that explain the high numbers of abuses in the community, although - the 14 pedestrians without wearing reflective clothing who died in 2015 are three less than the previous year and 72% below the 50 registered in 2005.
