After yesterday's tragic accident, in which an 81-year-old woman was killed, she was reminded that the pedestrians would wear reflections in the city. After dark, during rain or snow, they are simply invisible to drivers.
The regulations impose on pedestrians the obligation to wear reflective vests outside the built-up area. But it turns out that accidents with their participation are more and more common in illuminated areas, where - it seems - are visible to drivers. Yesterday there was another tragic accident.
As we wrote, the Opel driver hit an 81-year-old woman on the belts. Walking with numerous injuries went to the hospital, but the doctors failed to save her.
- It seems that in a built-up area, where there is street lighting, a pedestrian entering the belts will be visible to the driver. But it turns out that it is different - says Kraft, a press officer of the Karta police. - A lot depends on the setting of street lamps, but after dark, when it rains or snow, drivers often are not able to see the pedestrian entering the belts. That is why we encourage everyone to wear reflective clothing(sewn on reflective fabric) not only outside built-up areas. A wristband or waistcoat costs a few zlotys, and can save a life or protect against loss of health.
While the youngest is more and more often wearing clothing with retro-reflective tapes, or because of school activities, they use reflections, the problem is with older people who very often do not pay attention to their own safety on the road. Maybe it is worth taking care of our seniors to have reflective elements at their disposal, which they can set up when going to a clinic, a shop or a church.
